Welcome
New College is born of a 60 year tradition of training for ministry and mission in the West Midlands. The College is new in that it is involved in a style that is church based rather than just being independent in its training style.
New College is founded upon the principle that the call of God to Christian Service is paramount. Finance, academic ability and background do not limit our acceptance of you. We cannot even decide whether or not you are called – that’s between you and God and any future avenue of service.
We combine college training for 3 days per week with vocational training for 3 days a week in a placement which may provide board and lodging for the whole week.
We provide our own degree which is accredited by the churches and validated by an excellent academic board.
You can come in at any level – from the simply interested to the serious student whose goal is the ministry or missionary service. You decide the level you study at and we will help you to improve year upon year.
There is high ratio of lecturers to students so that we can give greater attention to the students’ development.
We do provide internet learning where needed but our preference is that you should be part of a worshipping community of learning.
Each year contains twelve modules delivered in each of the two semesters. You may start and stop as your situation or finances permit.
All the lecturers are experienced church leaders who are also current practitioners of their ministry which is a great benefit to the students.
There is accommodation should you need to stay over for the three days. The skills of the placements are very important to us and you will need to pass the placement in order to pass the academic training. You may either carry on learning in your home church or we will find you a situation to grow and develop in. There will be opportunities to learn in alternative placements with evangelists and chaplains.
Every year there will be a week of mission where the entire student body work together in a church or evangelistic setting.
All students will gain some rudimentary understanding of biblical languages which is taught in a user friendly way on a regular basis.
Debate and dissent will be encouraged in order to help the student develop including 1 period of public debate every week for all students.
There are 3 departments: Biblical Studies; Doctrine; Missional and the curriculum is arranged around them as is the research diplomas and degrees.
Students are expected to eat together for one meal per day whilst studying together.
